Doug Sieck November 2021

Doug shares about his families Deep Root Ranch. He talks about raising crops and cattle and how he moves the cows to ensure the grass is healthy.

Math Problems:

  1. Doug has 230 cows in the pasture, each cow drinks about 20 gallons of water per day how many gallons of water do the cows in the pasture drink each day?
  2. Using the information from the previous question, if the tank holds 1,000 gallons of water, how many tanks of water will the cows drink each day?
  3. You can also convert the gallons of water to pounds of water, there are eight pounds in one gallon of water. How many pounds of water do the cows need each day?

 Questions:

  1. How much water should a person drink each day?
  2. Why do you think cows drink more water than people?

Discussion Topic: Doug was “calling his cows” to move them to another pasture, is this an example of a Conditioned Response?
