Weber Open House

Raising cattle is a big part of Agriculture in South Dakota. Over 15,000 farms and ranches raise cattle each year, more than any other type of livestock. It’s no surprise then, that across the state there are many farms raising cattle to go to market.
At my farm, and many others, cattle are raised outdoors in lots. However, a growing number of cattle farms are opting for a different setup. These farms are in some way putting a roof over their cattle’s heads. This can be a huge benefit during the hot summers and cold winters we endure in South Dakota.
There are quite a few different options for these barns, and each one may look a little different. What is comes down to is how each farmer decides they can best care for their cattle.
Tomorrow Weber Farm and Feedlot is hosting an open house at their new monoslope style barn near Alexandria. This barn also has a pit underneath to store manure. Starting at 5:30, Ag United will be serving free roast beef sandwiches. For those with more questions, NRCS will be hosting an informational program at 7:15 pm.
We hope to see you there! More information can be found here.
