PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Agriculture welcomes applicants for the newly opened position of Agricultural Development Division director. The job is in Pierre, S.D.
The director works with businesses, banks, government organizations, local agricultural development groups, educational institutions, and citizens to maximize and leverage public-private sector partnerships that result in new agricultural opportunities for South Dakota. The division director also is responsible for providing technical and related policy expertise to the Secretary of Agriculture, Office of the Governor, and congressional offices on agricultural issues.
“Economic development is one of Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s top priorities. Because agriculture is our state’s top industry, agricultural development is an integral piece in that effort,” said South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Walt Bones. “This important position will give an individual a great opportunity to have a direct impact on farmers, ranchers and our rural communities.”
