My Favorite South Dakota Grown Product 

 

Mouthwatering, buttery, creamy, sweet, savory, light, frothy, chilly, and delicious. What do you think when you hear these words? If milk and all the wonderful products that come from it came to your mind, then you're on the right track.

In South Dakota, there are approximately 94,000 dairy cows. Think about how much milk all those cows produce that goes to different dairy plants in our state and gets made into lots of awesome products like butter, cheese, and ice cream!

We are very fortunate that we have several places in South Dakota that process milk into tasty products that are sold around the state and the entire nation! This helps dairy farmers and gives people jobs, keeping our local economies strong.

While there are so many amazing products made from milk, my favorite is ice cream! I think that the SDSU Davis Dairy Plant makes the best ice cream! What's even cooler is that students can learn about milk and all of its wonderful uses. My favorite ice cream flavor was even invented right at SDSU - Cookies and Cream!!

I hope that everyone can enjoy one of South Dakota's greatest resources - MILK ! Drink on!
