4.L.2.2. Students are able to explain how a size of a population is dependent upon the available resources within its community.

  • When a calf is young it starts off being bottle fed and eventually moves to drinking from a bucket and eating a ration of feed.  As the calves grow older they are put into pens together and are given more feed that is made from naturally grown products.  Explain why you think they are given different feed at different ages.  Why do you think Heidi slowly moves them into big groups rather than just putting them all together right away?

Discussion: Heidi showed us how the calves move into different pens and eventually into barns as they grow and mature.  How is this similar to you and I? *Start off at home and daycare, elementary school to junior high and high school, college, and then living on our own.
