Know Your Farmer Dinner to Feature South Dakota Agricultural Products
Area foodies can dine with South Dakota farmers at first annual event 

April 16, 2015 -- VERMILLION, SD -- South Dakota food lovers will have a unique opportunity on April 20th.   Not only will they be able to eat a delicious meal, they'll also be dining with the farmers who made the meal possible.  

The First Annual Know Your Farmer Dinner is set for April 20th in Vermillion. The Know Your Farmer is dinner is an evening where participants will enjoy an appetizer, entrée and dessert served by The Red Steakhouse, and Café Brule. The dinner will feature products that are grown in South Dakota such as pork, dairy, soybeans, and corn.

Throughout the evening, area farmers will be mingling amongst guests and answering questions about their farms and today’s agriculture.  The Know Your Farmer Dinner is designed to acquaint consumers with local producers and encourage dialogue about modern agriculture.

Last year South Dakota Farm Families a series of restaurant crawls in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Brookings, and Vermillion. “After the success of last year's restaurant crawls, we thought it would be exciting to expand the event to encompass many segments of South Dakota Agriculture. We see the "Know Your Farmer dinner" as another opportunity for South Dakota consumers to meet those who grow our food and ask questions about today's agricultural practices.” Said Rebecca Christman, Ag United Outreach Director.  “Many consumers are not only interested in eating delicious food, but also learning about the farmer behind it.”
