Mom's Day Out on the Farm

The Third Annual "Moms Day Out on the Farm" event is now taking applications for the summer of 2012. Each summer, Sioux Falls area moms have the opportunity to experience where their food is produced and observe how farm families care for their animals and the land.

Moms riding on the bus will receive $20 in beef certificates, $20 in pork certificates and $10 in Hy-Vee gift cards as well as other goodies. Each participant has the chance to win one of four $125 Hy-Vee gift cards given away on each bus tour.

Moms interested in participating in the tours can email kelly@agunited.org to be put on a list for more information. Ag United will then email you a brief survey to complete and you will be a candidate to "get on the bus." Tours will feature area hog, beef and dairy farm families as well as presentations from area veterinarians about animal welfare, health and medication use in farm animals. An area agronomist will discuss crops and what goes into their development. Riding along on the bus will be women involved with pork production, cattle feeding and dairy farming.
